Established in 1837, Knabe pianos was founded by William Knabe, who had studied for a professional career but decided to learn the art of piano making by working at several German piano makers' shops.

After developing his skill, he came to the United States in 1833 and soon began operating Wm. Knabe & Company. From the start, Knabe committed himself to making high performance pianos. President of the United States Rutherford B. Hayes had a Knabe piano installed in the White House during his presidency.

Today, Wm. Knabe & Co. still produce some of the finest pianos in the world. With a wide range of models, both upright (vertical) and grand pianos, it is impossible to go wrong if you purchase a Knabe piano. Each piano is hand-made and has a very limited production.

The tones of a Knabe piano have been likened to that of a human voice. This is a direct result of superior design and materials, along attention to detail of the highest standards.
